Geoffrey L. Stack

Managing Director

Geoffrey L. Stack is currently a Managing Director of SRG, where he is directly responsible for all residential real estate operations, including all development, acquisition, finance and management activities in the company's multifamily ​business. Prior to the creation of SARES•REGIS Group through the me​​rger of Regis Group and The SARES Company in 1993, Mr. Stack served from 1977 to 1993 as the President of the Regis Group, which focused on the development, management and sale of multifamily rental properties and for-sale condominiums. Prior to entering the field of real estate development, Mr. Stack worked as an aide to United States Senator Paul H. Douglas. Mr. Stack also served from 1967 to 1970 as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain. In 1996, Mr. Stack received the Lifetime Tribute Award of Excellence from the Apartment Association of Orange County; in 2004 Mr. Stack received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The University of California, Irvine Graduate School of Management, and in 2010 Mr. Stack was inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Builder Hall of Fame. Mr. Stack currently is a member of the board of directors of the Tejon Ranch Company (NYSE:TRC), a publicly traded company, the National Multi Housing Council, and the California Housing Council. Mr. Stack is Chairman of the Urban Land Institute Foundation, a member of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, and a founding Trustee of the Cystinosis Research Foundation. Mr. Stack has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Multi Housing Council, the Chairman of the ULI Multi-Family Silver Residential Council and has served as a director of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Stack received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Georgetown University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Robert W. Wagner

Managing Director

Robert W. Wagner is currently the Managing Director of SARES•REGIS Group of Northern California, L.P., a privately held commercial real estate development and management firm which Mr. Wagner co-founded in 1992. He is also Chairman of Regis Homes of Northern California, a privately held homebuilder. Prior to co-founding SARES•REGIS Group of Northern California and Regis Homes of Northern California, Mr. Wagner was employed at Prometheus Development Co., Inc., a privately held real estate company that develops, owns and manages over 18,000 apartment units throughout the Western United States. Mr. Wagner was employed at Prometheus Development Co., Inc. from February 1979 through December 1991, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer from 1986 through 1991. Prior to joining Prometheus Mr. Wagner served as Senior Loan Officer for Citicorp Real Estate, Inc., a subsidiary of Citibank, N.A., in New York and San Francisco from 1974 through 1978. Mr. Wagner has served as a council member of the Urban Land Institute, as a member of The Bay Area Council, and as a member of the Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Wagner is currently on the Board of Directors for the Swig Company. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Dartmouth College and a Master Degree in Business Administration from Boston University.​

Kenneth E. Gladstein


Kenneth E. Gladstein is currently President of the Sares Regis Multifamily Fund. He joined SARES•REGIS Group of Northern California, L.P. in 2003 as Senior Vice President with responsibility for acquisition of operating multifamily residential properties throughout Northern California. Since joining SRG, Mr. Gladstein has overseen the acquisition, disposition and refinancing of approximately $1 billion in residential multifamily properties. Prior to joining SRG, Mr. Gladstein served from 2001 to 2003 as Senior Vice President with responsibility for acquisition and financing of commercial R&D properties in Northern California with Limar Realty Group, a private investment real estate company. From 1999 to 2001 Mr. Gladstein held senior management positions with LoopNet and Property Capital, two web-based commercial real estate companies. From 1996 to 1999 Mr. Gladstein served as Managing Partner of Metropolis Partners, Inc., a private commercial real estate operating company that he co-founded. Prior to founding Metropolis Partners, Mr. Gladstein served from 1992 to 1995 as Vice President at Nomura Securities International, Inc., where he was responsible for the sale of commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities (MBS) to institutional investors as well as the underwriting of commercial real estate loans. Prior to joining Nomura Securities International, Mr. Gladstein served from 1985 to 1990 as Vice President at Bear Stearns & Co, Inc. in the Mortgage Backed Securities Group. Mr. Gladstein received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tufts University and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from New York University. Mr. Gladstein is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker.

William B. Montgomery

Chief Investment Officer

William B. Montgomery joined SARES•REGIS Group in April of 2003, and currently serves as President, Multifamily Acquisitions for Investment & Development, of SRG's Multifamily Division. Mr. Montgomery is responsible for managing all of SRG's combined multifamily acquisition activity for existing apartment community investments, condominium conversions and land site acquisitions. Prior to joining SRG, Mr. Montgomery served from 2001 to 2003 as Director of Acquisitions for Western National Properties, a western regional multifamily investment and development company, where he managed the acquisition of existing apartment communities throughout California, Colorado and Seattle, Washington. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Montgomery served as Director of Acquisitions of Shea Properties, a multifaceted real estate company responsible for land acquisition, design, development, construction and management of business parks, shopping centers, ap​artment communities and mixed-use environments, where he was responsible for creating and directing the acquisitions group and managing the acquisition process from site/project identification, initial project design/planning and underwriting/diligence through the close of escrow. Prior to joining Shea Properties, Mr. Montgomery served from 1985 to 1995 as an investment real estate broker for Sperry Van Ness and CB Commercial (now CB Richard Ellis). Mr. Montgomery earned a Bachelor of Science in Business at California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo, California and is a licensed real estate broker. Mr. Montgomery is a member of the Urban Land Institute and an associate member of the National Multi Housing Council.

William J. Thormahlen

Managing Director

William J. Thormahlen is currently a Managing Director of SARES•REGIS Group, and is responsible for overseeing operations and directing all legal, finance, tax and administrative functions. Mr. Thormahlen joined The Sammis Company (predecessor to the SARES Company) in 1980 where, as an Executive Vice President, he was responsible for its accounting, finance, legal and administrative functions as well as coordinating its regional office network. After the formation of the SARES Company, Mr. Thormahlen was instrumental in orchestrating the SARES Company's merger with The Regis Group in 1993. Mr. Thormahlen is an associate of the Urban Land Institute, a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and the National Realty Committee. He is also a Lancaster Society Member at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Mr. Thormahlen received a bachelor's degree in Business Economics from The University of California – Santa Barbara. Mr. Thormahlen is also a certified public accountant. Additionally, Mr. Thormahlen is actively involved in the UCSB Foundation, serving as Campaign Chairman for Orange County. Mr. Thormahlen is also serving on the Investment Committee for Orangewood Children's Foundation and on the Steering committee for the new YMCA in Santa Ana, California.

Ginger L. Bryant

Chief Operating Officer

Ginger L. Bryant is Chief Operating Officer for Sares-Regis Group of Northern California, LLC and its affiliated companies. As COO, she is responsible for Asset Management of the operating property portfolio, including renovation and repositioning efforts, Treasury, MIS and all accounting and budgeting activities. Ms. Bryant also monitors the performance of all development projects and manages communications with lenders and financial partners. Ms. Bryant joined the company in 1993 as Vice President and Regional Asset Manager, with responsibility for the Bay Area portfolio. Prior to joining the company, she worked at Prometheus Development Co., Inc., holding the positions of Property Management Controller and Vice President of Finance and Administration. Ms. Bryant received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Accountancy from the University of Missouri - Columbia and her CPA certification. Prior to entering the Real Estate Industry, she held positions in the auditing division of Arthur Young, now Ernst & Young. Ms. Bryant is an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network and served as President for the San Francisco Chapter in 2000 and was the National President in 2005.

Kenneth M. Coatsworth

Chief Financial Officer

Kenneth M. Coatsworth is currently Senior Vice President of Finance for SARES•REGIS Group, where he is responsible for all capital market activities for the commercial and residential divisions, including all construction, bridge and permanent financings and joint venture equity transactions. Prior to joining SARES-REGIS, Mr. Coatsworth served in 2009 as chief financial officer for Hopkins Real Estate Group, a Southern California based developer focused on urban infill retail development. Prior to Hopkins, Mr. Coatsworth served from 2002-2008 as Vice President of Finance for Fieldstone Communities, inc. where he was responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing all project level debt and equity transactions, in addition to managing corporate level capital needs. Mr. Coatsworth has also held finance positions in the hospitality, and industrial real estate sectors. Mr. Coatsworth received his BA from the University of California – Berkeley, and received an MBA from the University of Southern California. He is also a certified public accountant.​​​

Matthew G. Stevens

Portfolio Management

Matthew G. Stevens joined SARES•REGIS Group in May 2011 as Assistant Vice President - Portfolio Management with the sole purpose of managing assets within the Fund. Mr. Stevens' primary role is business plan execution for Fund assets. This includes renovation & repositioning efforts, financial performance review, annual project budgeting, and site level asset quality initiatives. Mr. Stevens is also responsible for investor reporting and communication. Prior to joining Sares-Regis Group, Mr. Stevens served as Vice President of Operations for the Bascom Group, a private equity firm based in Irvine, CA which specializes in value-add multifamily acquisitions and repositioning. Mr. Stevens was responsible for the daily operations and asset management of an 8,000 unit multifamily portfolio located in the Western U.S. Mr. Stevens received a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and holds dual minors in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Southern California. Mr. Stevens is actively involved in Urban Land Institute and Institute of Real Estate Management.

Michael H. Heiken

Chief Accounting Officer

Michael H. Heiken joined SARES•REGIS Group in August of 1999 as Chief Accounting Officer with responsibility for accounting and financial reporting, cash management and treasury, maintenance of corporate lines of credit, budgeting and forecasting, and information technology. Prior to joining SRG, Mr. Heiken was Vice-President, Controller of the McMillin Companies, a regional land developer and homebuilder in San Diego, and from 1983 through 1995, he was Corporate Controller of The Hahn Company, a nationally-recognized shopping center developer. Mr. Heiken began his working career in 1974 with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in Washington, DC and subsequently moved to Arthur Young & Co. in San Diego. Since 1983, Mr. Heiken has been an active member of the National Association of Real Estate Companies (NAREC), including serving as President for two different terms and Director for several years. He has also been Annual Conference Chairman since 1995. NAREC is comprised of approximately 150 financial executives of real estate companies and associate members such as partners from the national public accounting firms. Mr. Heiken is a California Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the AICPA and the California Society of CPA's and holds a BA in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration from Rutgers University. ​

Michael P. Bissell

Property Management

Michael P Bissell joined Sares-Regis Group’s Multifamily Property Management Division in 2007. Mr. Bissell currently oversees the management of more than 15,000 apartment units in over 60 properties located throughout California, Oregon, Colorado and Washington. With more than 35 years of property management experience, his career includes asset management, property acquisitions, property dispositions, development, merchandising, marketing and sales. Prior to joining SRG, Mr. Bissell held senior positions with some of the nation’s largest publicly and privately held apartment investment and management companies, including Equity Residential Trust, Archstone Property Trust, The Irvine Company and Western National Properties. Mr. Bissell completed two extensive assignments in Europe for Oaktree Capital Management and Stellar International Holdings. Mr. Bissell is an executive member of the National Multifamily Housing Counsel and for the California Apartment Association he is both President and on the Board of Directors. Mr. Bissell is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California and Washington.

Stephen C. Lanni

Acquisitions Officer

Stephen C. Lanni is responsible for overseeing the Southwest multifamily investment acquisitions for SARES•REGIS Group. Mr. Lanni acquires existing value-add multifamily apartment communities located throughout Southern California, Denver and Phoenix. Mr. Lanni has extensive knowledge in multifamily development where he has obtained land for the development of apartments and communities for condominium conversions. He is responsible for the acquisition of seven, multifamily development projects totaling over 2,600 units and nearly a $1 billion of capital costs. Mr. Lanni has been influential in the creation and development of the SARES•REGIS Multifamily Funds where he has obtained assets and grown the Fund’s presence in the Southwest Region of the United States.

Mr. Lanni joined SARES•REGIS Group in June of 2004, as Acquisition Manager in the Multifamily Investment and Development Division. Previously, he was a Senior Financial Analyst with Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was responsible for managing Bank of America's Southern California corporate real estate transactions. He also worked on real estate corporate solutions for numerous other Fortune 500 corporations, such as AON, Microsoft, Xerox and SAIC.

Mr. Lanni received his Master of Business Administration Degree and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Real Estate Finance and Marketing from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.

Mr. Lanni is an Associate Member of the National Multifamily Housing Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute. In addition to the aforementioned he is a member of the Graduate Real Estate Association at the University of Southern California and is an active participant for the Lusk Center where he has presented to graduate students.

Daniel A. Byrd

Capital Projects

Daniel Byrd joined the SARES•REGIS Group in 2014 as Senior Director, Capital Projects. He is responsible for implementing and managing the renovation business plans for all Fund properties. Prior to joining the SARES•REGIS Group, he served as Director, Capital Projects and Asset Management at Carmel Partners, a San Francisco based private investor and developer of multifamily assets, overseeing the value-add and execution of investment plans in the Southern and Northern California Portfolio. Mr. Byrd received his Bachelors Degree in History with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.
